Migrate from Google Analytics to Glinto
Google Analytics is overkill for most websites. It’s slow, complex, and increasingly illegal in the EU. Glinto gives you everything you actually need — in 2 minutes, with zero cookies and zero consent banners.
Why switch?
Google Analytics
- Requires cookie consent banner
- Declared illegal in France, Austria, Italy
- Complex GA4 interface with learning curve
- 45KB+ script slows your site
- Data sent to US servers
- Used to build advertising profiles
- Sampling at scale — inaccurate data
Glinto
- No cookies — no consent banner needed
- GDPR-compatible by construction
- Simple dashboard — all stats on one page
- 1.2KB script — zero impact on speed
- Data stored in the EU
- Never sold, never used for ads
- AI explains your traffic weekly
How to migrate (2 minutes)
Sign up for Glinto
Create a free account — no credit card required. Add your website domain.
Add the Glinto pixel
Copy the one-line snippet from your dashboard and paste it in your site’s <head>. See the installation guide for WordPress, Webflow, and other platforms.
Remove the GA script
Delete the Google Analytics / GA4 script tag (gtag.js or analytics.js) from your site. If you use Google Tag Manager, remove the GA tag from the container.
Remove your cookie banner (optional)
If GA was the only reason for your cookie banner, you can remove it entirely. Or use Glinto’s Cookie Banner Zero feature to do it automatically.
Import historical data (coming soon)
We’re building a Google Analytics data importer that lets you bring your historical pageview and visitor data into Glinto. Join the waitlist below to be notified when it’s ready.
GA import — coming soon
We know switching analytics tools is easier when you don’t lose your history. We’re building a one-click importer that reads your Google Analytics 4 data via the GA Data API and brings it into Glinto’s dashboard as historical context.
What the importer will support:
- Pageviews and unique visitors (daily granularity)
- Top pages, referrers, and countries
- Device and browser breakdown
- Up to 2 years of historical data

Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my historical data from GA?
No — your Google Analytics account stays intact. You can keep it running in parallel with Glinto for as long as you want. When our GA importer launches, you’ll be able to bring historical data into Glinto.
Can I run GA and Glinto at the same time?
Yes. The two scripts don’t conflict. Many customers run both during a transition period to compare numbers. Just note that if you keep GA, you still need the consent banner for GA’s cookies.
Will my numbers match between GA and Glinto?
They’ll be close but not identical. GA uses persistent cookies (30-day attribution window), Glinto uses daily-rotating hashes. Ad blockers block GA more aggressively. See our troubleshooting guide for details.
Is this legal in Portugal / Spain / EU?
France, Austria, and Italy have already declared Google Analytics non-compliant with GDPR. Portugal and Spain are expected to follow. Glinto is designed to be GDPR-compatible from the ground up — no cookies, no personal data stored, database locked to the EU.
